Advice for an Amateur

Tom Stone alternates between subtle humor and passionate drama, sometimes from moment to moment, and sometimes in the same breath. As a magician, Tom plays with what we see, and with what we think we see. His great passion for magic as an art form, his respect for its roots and its old masters, and his talent for dissecting human cognition and perception – and his ability to twist and turn the parts and put them together into something completely new, have given him recognition and respect from professional magicians around the world.
Tom is today one of the magic world’s hottest creators, lecturers and writers. He travels the world to coach other magicians on how to become even better, and he was the head teacher of the western world’s first university education for magicians. At an awards gala in Hollywood in 2016, Tom received the “Creative Fellowship” award from the Academy of Magical Arts.
Tom has written many books and articles for professional magicians. He is also a sought-after artist who has performed all over the world, in all contexts from cultural festivals in Portugal, theater magic in Stockholm, Japanese TV, and repeated engagements at the legendary Magic Castle in Hollywood.
Tom is an excellent and encouraging instructor. His enthusiasm for teaching is matched by clear pedagogy and progressions. Our students consistently comment on how much they learn from Tom about the techniques and philosophy of performing magic.
It’s A Fact! Tom Stone’s magic is exceptional, premium and superior. You get to witness magic performed in a way, never seen before..
The Magic Castle looks forward to the return of Tom Stone.
I have read several of Tom Stone’s published articles on how magic works. I am not a magician, but based on my own observations, he is one of the smartest and most capable magicians in the world.
Tom Stone is one of the few magicians I’ve seen, whose work addresses the audience’s desire to have a magical experience. Of course he “fools” them but more importantly his work transports them to a world where the limitations of life disappear and anything becomes possible.
Tom Stone is a rare phenomenon: a fountain of cleverness and creativity, and a truly excellent performer. Whether he is performing or teaching, I want to be in the first row.
